Lyman “Bub”‘s Obituary Lyman “Bub” Wells, age 76 of Bridgeport, passed away Monday, May 25, 2020 at his home with family by his side. He was born December 27, 1943 in Bridgeport to Earl Wells, Sr. and his wife Essie Marie (Freeman) Wells. He was married 55 years to Connie McClellan, the love of his life. Bub was a member of and worked out of the Teamsters Union #135 and then worked at and retired from Ambraw Asphalt. He was a very hard worker, a home-body, and enjoyed being with his family. Surviving family includes: his wife of 55 years- Connie Wells: four sons- Lonnie Wells of Vincennes, IN, Tony Wells and wife Ruby of Scottsburg, IN: Rusty Wells and wife Niki of Bridgeport, and Brant Wells and Joanne Goss of Bridgeport: two brothers- Richard Wells and wife Joyce Wells of Chauncey and Jimmy Wells and wife Sue of Lawrenceville: four sisters- Nora Folk and husband Wayne of Indianapolis, IN, Maxine Green of Chauncey, Betty Stanley and husband Ed of Bridgeport, and Gerri Phillips and husband Ralph of Bridgeport: eleven grandchildren- Lonna, Maria, Kaylee, Dereck, Brooklyne, Brylee, Caitlyn, Delilah, Tony, Travis, and Ciara: and ten great-grandchildren- Maggie, Matilyn, Chevy, Jayven, Joah, Bryer, Trace, and Brigston. He was preceded in death by: his parents- Earl Wells, Sr. and Essie Marie Wells: one son- Tommy Wells: three brothers- Sonny, Bill, and Jerry Wells: four sisters- Norma Jones, Ruth Ann Gosnell, Alice Cook, and Diane Jerald. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions set forth by the Governor of Illinois, we will be celebrating the life of Lyman “Bub” Wells with a drive-up “open-air” visitation on the north side of Cunningham Funeral Home in Bridgeport on Saturday, May 30, 2020 from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. For the safety of family and friends alike, please respect social distancing and groups limited to 10 people or less. As per Bub’s wishes, cremation will follow. Memorial contributions can be made to the Lawrence County Humane Society directly or through the funeral home.
