Larry Anderson Pickett, Sr., 85, of Asheboro, died Friday, May 15, 2020, at Parkview Health and Rehabilitation Center, Chapel Hill. Larry was born on February 18, 1935 and attended Asheboro High School where he played baseball. He was a manager at Moore’s Building Supply in Asheboro for most of his career. His passions were his family, fishing, his dog Charlie, and the North Carolina Tar Heels! There were many good memories of him at family gatherings, fishing, and at Carolina basketball and football games. He was preceded in death by his parents, Colon Anderson Pickett and Edith Cox Pickett, his daughter and son-in-law, Susan Pickett Thomas and David Thomas, and his wife, Hilda Poole Pickett. He is survived by his sons, Larry Anderson Pickett, Jr (Julie) of Chapel Hill, and Charles Robert (Bobby) Pickett of Asheboro; grandchildren: Ethan Anderson Pickett, Valerie (Bobby) DelVecchio, Gena Caroline Pickett, Taylor Pickett (Josh) Markee, Justin Pickett, Leigh Thomas (Davin) Creasey, and DJ Thomas; three great-grandchildren: Eleanor Pickett, and Cooper and Avery Creasey. A private memorial service will be held. The family wants to thank the caregivers at Parkview Health and Rehabilitation and Liberty Hospice Care.
