Obituary With humble acceptance of God’s will and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Juan Ortiz Gallegos, 72, on Saturday, May 2, 2020. Juan was a humble, eager, gregarious and amiable man. He loved life and his family dearly. He enjoyed being around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Juan loved telling stories and making others laugh and enjoyed having conversations with everyone. He was one of a kind; there was never a dull moment as long as he was around! Juan was born and grew up in Durango, Mexico. He later came to the United States and married his late wife, Margarita DeLeon of Donna, Texas. Together they raised their two daughters in Kansas City, Kansas. Juan worked as a crane operator 35 years until he retired. After retiring and the passing of his wife, Juan moved to Cherokee to be closer to his family. He greatly enjoyed the company of his loved ones, working on vehicles and doing yard work. Juan is survived by his two daughters, Veronica Gallegos of Denver, Colorado and Esther Banderas of Cherokee, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Juan was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Margarita Gallegos DeLeon. Viewing is Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
