Jose Geovanny “Geo” Ramon Astudillo, a longtime resident of Beacon, passed away on May 10, 2020. He was 25 years old. Geo was born on December 19, 1994 in Girón, Ecuador, the son of Jose R. Ramon and Gloria Astudillo of Beacon. Geo attended Beacon schools and graduated from Beacon High School in 2013. He was a four-year Varsity soccer player while at Beacon High. He then went on to attend Dutchess Community College and then Stony Brook University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree. He had been a lifeguard for over four years and also worked at J & S Painting during college. Geo enjoyed photography and filmmaking. He created videos that he published on YouTube. His favorite words were “positive vibes.” Geo is survived by his parents, Jose and Gloria at home; his sisters, Elvia Ramon, Maribel Ramon, Kelly Ramon and Stephanie Ramon; his nephews, Austin Guarquila and Jake Morocho; his many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family; and numerous friends. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. A Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church will be held in the future. My most sincere condolences on the loss of your most precious son, who was a wonderful young man. I had the pleasure of watching him play soccer for years with my son, Eli Smith. He was polite, respectful and smiled easily. I hope you will be able to hold tight your memories of him and keep him close always.

I am very sorry for the loss of your son and friend to many. I spent several years coaching Jose while he played with Beacon Soccer Club Teams. He was always seeking to learn and put his skills to use for the betterment of his teams. Jose was a friend to his teammates and wanted all to enjoy the games. My son, Eli, enjoyed Jose as a teammate and friend throughout Beacon Soccer Club and High School. May your memories be many and close.
