John’s Obituary John Dixon McDavid, 89, of Frisco, TX, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2020 in Frisco, TX. He was born November 20, 1930 in Oak Park, IL to John S. and Dorthea B. (Kelly) McDavid. John married Mary Evelyn Miller on June 25, 1982 in Dallas, TX. John attended Oak Park and River Forest High School and was on the swimming and golf teams. In 1952, earned a BS in Geology at Colorado College. While attending college, John was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and was their Quaestor (treasurer) in 1951. He later attended the University of Wyoming to earn his MA in Geology in 1954. From 1954 to 1959, John worked for Stanolind (later Amoco) and then in1960 he worked for WB Osborn until 1966. He served as president of City Geological Society in 1965. Beginning in 1966, John became a consulting geologist and worked some in Indonesia. He was a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. John is survived by his wife, Mary of Frisco, TX; two sons, John McDavid of Oklahoma City, OK and Terry McDavid of Oklahoma City, OK; daughter, Sally Dixon of Oklahoma City, OK; two step-sons, Bill Starks of Eastland, TX and Johnny Starks of Frisco, TX; two step-daughters, Barbara Sue Pickett of Aubrey, TX and Gail Colsch of Frisco, TX; six grandsons, Brandon Starks, Dustin Starks, Michael Pruitt, Joe Dixon, Logan Dixon, and Thomas Dixon; four granddaughters, Michelle Paris, Amanda Starks, Heather Colsch, and Grace Dixon; and brother, Morrison S. McDavid, MD of Santa Barbara, CA. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorthea; daughter, Sandy Sprinkle; and granddaughter, Becky Pruitt. Visitation will be held 10:00AM-11:00AM, Friday, May 22, 2020 at Little Elm Cemetery in Little Elm, TX and the graveside service will begin at 11:00AM.
