Joan’s Obituary Mrs. Joan C. Nicholson, age 66, a resident of 160 Haddock Dr., Vanceboro, NC died Thursday May 21, 2020 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday May 25, 2020 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Pastor J. T. Edwards. Mrs. Nicholson was born in Beaufort County on July 24, 1953, daughter of the late Clifford Harvey Caraway, Sr. and the late Mable Marie Ivey Caraway. She attended J. H. Rose High School in Greenville and continued her education at Beaufort County Community College where she completed her degree in Registered Nursing. On October 19, 1996 she married Michael “Mickey” Edward Nicholson, Sr. who survives. As a RN she worked at several nursing facilities and at the time of her death was working at River Trace Nursing Center of Washington. Mrs. Nicholson’s life was centered around her family, work and her cats. Surviving along with her husband Michael of the home is a daughter: Ginger Marie Harris of Vanceboro; stepchildren: Michael Edward Nicholson, Jr. (Kim) of Farmville, John David Nicholson of Newport News, VA, Anita Stroud (Toby) of Greenville and Scott Nicholson of Williamston; a brother: William Caraway (DeAnna) of Parrish, AL; eight grandchildren: Elizabeth Stocks, Henry Harris, Sarah Nicholson, Jake Nicholson, Brett Nicholson, Hope Lee, Josie Nicholson and Hunter Stroud and two great grandchildren: Miah Stocks and Teagan Ables. Mrs. Nicholson was predeceased along with her parents by three brothers: Harvey, David and Gerald Caraway and a sister: Marie McRoy.
