Jean’s Obituary Due to current health concerns with COVID-19, a Celebration of Life Service and inurnment for Jean D. Arehart will be held at a later date. Jean D. Arehart, 81 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, formerly of Kearney, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2020 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Jean was born on September 27, 1938, at Bayard, Nebraska, the eldest of three daughters, to Wayne and Esther (Snyder) Chapman. She received her education from Bayard Public Schools and graduated from Bayard High School with the class of 1956. On February 23, 1957, Jean was united in marriage to Dwayne L. Arehart of Holdrege. They couple made their home at Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and they were blessed with five children: Teresa, Mark, James, Lori and Tonja. Jean was a loving and dedicated mother. Jean enjoyed cooking, quilting, and gardening. She was a member of the Independent Baptist Church. Jean will be remembered for her love and dedication to her family. She was proceeded in death by; her parents; and sister, Lois Hascall. Those left to cherish her memory include: her husband, Dwayne Lee Arehart of Holdrege; two sons, Mark Arehart and his wife, Krystal of Kearney; and James Arehart and his wife, Lynn of Ravenna, Nebraska; three daughters: Teresa Vaughn and her husband, David of Omaha, Nebraska; Lori Smith and her husband, George of Owasso, Oklahoma; and Tonja Wendt of Omaha, Nebraska; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister: Joyce Trussel and her husband, Rod of Bayard; brother-in-law: Gene Hascall of Torrington, Wyoming; along with other relatives and friends. The family is honoring Jean’s wish for cremation. There will be no visitation or viewing. Memorials are suggested to the Lee Arehart family.
