Obituary James A. “Salomi” Smith, 83 of Divernon passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at his home. He was born on Feb. 16, 1937 in Springfield the son of Alex and Marie Smith of Divernon. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Steven and a brother, David. He married Katie Dobson on May 23, 1986. Jim served in the United States Army from 1960-1962 in Alaska. He retired from Rural Electric Cooperative in Auburn after 38 years of service. Jim was a member of the VFW and an honorary member of the Central Illinois Corvette Club. Surviving are his wife, Katie; a son, Stewart; a stepson, Darren (Rhonda) Hart; two grandsons, Atticus and Satchel; two granddaughters, Ava and Olivia; a brother, Damon (Betty); and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service and gathering of friends will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Divernon Alumni Association, PO Box 394, Divernon, IL 62530 or the Mt.
