Ida’s Obituary Ida Ventura Fundeklian, born August 26, 1918, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and died at the age of 101, at Manor Pines Convalescent Home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on May 25, 2020. She lived in Hollywood, Florida since 1969, when she and her late husband, Anthony Fundeklian moved from Watertown, Massachusetts. He preceded her in death in 1987. Shortly thereafter, she moved to Carriage Hills in Hollywood, FL., where she enjoyed her friends, relatives, and the activities there. Ida kept physically fit through aerobic dancing, and regular calisthenics and mentally fit by reading. She loved to ballroom dance and was very skilled at it, from waltzes through foxtrots, to polkas, and Latin American styles. In 2005 she moved to the Rehabilitation Center of Hollywood Hills, where she lived for 12 years as she contended with the effects of dementia. For the first few years there, she was usually able to recognize close relatives though sometimes mistaking one for another. In 2017, after surviving the effects of hurricane Irma, she moved to Manor Pines following a short hospital stay. Ida was the last of her generation, the fifth of seven children of Cosmo and Annunziata (Nancy) Albani Ventura. Her brothers were James (Vincent), Raymond, Salvatore (Sal), and Dominic (Danny), and sisters, Mary and Anna. She leaves two stepchildren, five nieces and nephews nine grand nieces and nephews and two sisters-in-law. In addition, she had more than twenty-four cousins, most of them, living in Massachusetts. We will miss her hurry-hurry style, boundless energy, directness and comical sarcasm, along with her caring about others. Her favorite saying was “health is wealth.” She was cremated and her ashes spread according to her wishes. There will be no formal celebration of her life, but many will celebrate privately. In lieu of flowers or any other offerings, please give your family members hugs, tell them you love them, and feel free to contribute to a charity of your choice, in her memory.
