Obituary Helen Marie Bailitz Of Arlington Heights Helen Marie Bailitz was born on February 16, 1979 to Ron and Helen Marie (Meegan) Bailitz. She passed away unexpectedly of sudden cardiac arrest in Miami, Florida. Helen is survived by her father, Ronald Bailitz, her siblings Anne Watson (Greg), Joseph Bailitz (Aileen), Ron Bailitz (Sue), John Bailitz (Kristin) and Owen Bailitz (Christina). She was a loving, generous, and favorite aunt to her nieces and nephews: Brendan, Elizabeth, Owen, Ciara, Joseph, Ron, Sarah, Nina, Abby, Meegan, Brady, Kate, Luke, Ella, Carter and Noah. Helen was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Marie (Meegan) Bailitz. Growing up, Helen excelled in academics and sports. She was a fierce competitor and team leader. Helen graduated from Saint Viator High School in Arlington Heights where she was honored as a Hall of Fame Athlete for Basketball and Track & Field. Helen received both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree with highest honors from Northern Illinois University before completing her doctoral course work in History at Duke University. During her years as a student, she had the pleasure of living in Durham, North Carolina, Salzburg, Austria, Munich, and Berlin, Germany. Helen joined Northern Trust in 2006, first serving as a Trust Associate Relationship Manager in the Chicago suburbs before being promoted to Senior Business Process Consultant at the Chicago headquarters of Northern Trust. She continued to move through various roles in Chicago, New York City and Miami, Florida. At the time of her death, Helen was Senior Vice President for the East Region Client Support Services Group. Helen served on Northern Trust’s United Way Executive Leadership Committee, the Northern Trust Mentoring Program and Women in Leadership. She was a recipient of the Chairman’s Award, Diversity Advocate Award, Signature Service Quality Award, and many Celebrate Great Awards. Helen served as a Board Member of the Good Shepherd Manor Foundation, which provides fundraising support to Good Shepherd Manor, a residential facility for adults with developmental disabilities in Momence, Illinois. Helen was outgoing and quick-witted; she made friends wherever she went. If you were lucky enough to became Helen’s close friend, she treated you like family. She was charismatic, generous, fiercely loyal, and a person who could always bring people together in any setting, whether at work or at a family gathering. She was an incredible host to friends and coworkers who visited her at her homes in Midtown Manhattan and Miami. Her colleagues have described her as an exceptional leader, the type of person that you could always count on, and a person who always saw the good in everyone and everything. In consideration of current state guidelines, services and interment will be private. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at a later date.
