Harley John Schlarbaum, 66, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away on May 15, 2020 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He was born January 25, 1954 in Davis County, Iowa to Emery Lee and Jessie Mae Cheriwinker Schlarbaum. He graduated from Davis County High School in 1972. Harley worked in construction as a carpenter and owned a spray foam insulation company for several years. Harley enjoyed being outdoors fishing, hunting, and riding his motorcycle. He took many rides to Sturgis and especially liked riding in the fall to see the changing leaves. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Ford of Florida; three sisters, Mary (Tom) Boas, Shirley (LeRoy) Arndt both of Bloomfield, Iowa, Frances Ludwick of Mediapolis, Iowa; brother, George (Deb Wilson) Schlarbaum of Des Moines; girlfriend, Carmella McNamara; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; very special friends, Donald and Norma Myers; and brother-in-law, Don Ludwick. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private family service will be held at the Wagler Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the service with burial at the Drakesville Cemetery at a later date. Memorials have been established to the Davis County Fair and the Davis County Old Soldiers and Settlers Reunion.
