Obituary Mrs. Frances Ruth “Fran” Metz, age 74, of Versailles, Illinois passed away at 12:37 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2020 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, Illinois. She was born April 26, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland the daughter of George and Ruth Jones Silling. She married Richard Wayne “Rick” Metz on November 21, 1970 in the Cooperstown Christian Church in Cooperstown, Illinois and he survives. Mrs. Metz worked in accounts receivable at Dot Foods in Mt. Sterling for over 10 years, retiring in 2008. She attended Edgewood, Maryland High School and received her associates degree from Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. Mrs. Metz was a member of the Franklinville Presbyterian Church in Franklinville, Maryland. Fran truly loved the time spent with her family and friends. Survivors include her husband Rick Metz of Versailles, Illinois. 2 children Joseph Richard Metz of Bloomington, Illinois and Melissa Lynn Hamblin (James Ray) of Atlanta, Illinois. 4 grandchildren Ryan Oliva, Kameron Metz, Jaime Hamblin and Meagan Hamblin. 1 great granddaughter Rose Oliva also survives. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son Jeffrey William Metz and 1 brother Stuart Silling. Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Brown County Against Cancer and may be left or mailed to the Hendricker Funeral Home, 406 South Capitol Avenue, Mt. Sterling, IL 62353.
