Obituary Dora Lamar Castelar, 93 was called by the Lord on April 29, 2020 in Milwaukie, Oregon. Mrs. Castelar was born and raised in Laredo, Texas and retired from the Laredo Independent School District. Our Mami (Chief) was the rock of our family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was always willing to help anyone in need and her priority in life was her 10 children. Our Mami, our Chief gave us her daily blessings, unconditional love, advice, prayers, strength, and endless support. She worked diligently and encouraged her 10 children to succeed in life. After a conversation or visit she would always tell us “Que Dios te Bendiga.” She was a devout Catholic and believed in prayers, forgiveness and the Lord’s immense love. Mami loved to garden, go shopping, watch movies, enjoy a cozy fire, and talking to family and friends. She loved to reminisce and laugh about the antics we did as children and adults. She worked hard and lived life to the fullest. Her greatest accomplishment was her children. She is preceded in death by her husband, Emilio Castelar Sr.; daughter, Maria Sylivia Castelar; sons, Juan (Midnight) Castelar, Emilio Castelar Jr., Javier Castelar, and Pablo Castelar; parents, Marin Gonzalez and Beatriz Hernandez; granddaughter, Patricia Bender; sister, Emma DeLuna, and step-sisters, Socorro Rouse and Ana Maria Hernandez. She is survived by her children, Martha Kisner of Kansas, Leticia (Walter) Ellis of Oregon, Jorge (Ana) Castelar of Virgina, Jaime (Brenda) Castelar Sr. of Del Rio, and Dora Vega of Laredo; daughter-in-laws, Patricia Castelar, Eugenia Castelar, and Marta Castelar; 27 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; step-sisters, Alicia (Agustin) Gamez, Luisa (Jose Luis) Cancino, Beatrice (Daniel) Rodriquez and Maria Antonieta Guerra; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. Mami, (Chief) “Que Dios te Bendiga.” A private burial will be take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers and in remembrance to our mother, donations may be given to Marines, Toys for Tots (see information below).
