Obituary BOSTON — Deborah (Debbie) Maria Medeiros, 55, of New Bedford, MA passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2020, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital due to multiple health complications. Debbie was born in Povoação, St. Michael, Azores to the late Maria Salomé Morgado and José Pereira Medeiros. She moved to New Bedford, MA with her family at a young age. She was a graduate of New Bedford High School. Both loved ones and strangers alike admired her constant strength, courage, and selflessness. Though soft-spoken and gentle, her quick wit and humor was well-known and loved by her closest friends and family members. Debbie loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending as much time as she could with them, especially her nieces and nephews. Debbie is survived by her six siblings, Maria Fernandes and her husband, José of Dartmouth, MA, Jaime Medeiros and his wife, Ruby of Fairhaven, MA, Linda Macedo and her husband, George of New Bedford, MA, Joe Medeiros and his wife, Michelle of New Bedford, MA, Robert Medeiros of New Bedford, MA, and Sonia Medeiros of New Bedford, MA, and her beloved nieces and nephews: George Macedo, Vanessa Macedo, James Medeiros, Derek Fernandes, and Nicole Fernandes. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins in Cape Cod, Portugal, and Canada. We wish to give a special thanks to all of the doctors and nurses located at Brigham and Women’s Hospital who were very kind and compassionate while caring for Deborah. We would especially like to thank Dr. Michael Landzberg, who has provided care to Deborah for over 30 years. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to The Carl J. and Ruth Shapiro Cardiovascular Center at Brigham and Women’s Hospital at giving.brighamandwomens.org/ Her family and friends have a heavy heart, as she will be dearly missed. Due to the restrictions her burial will be private for immediate family. A public Memorial Mass will be held at the later date.
