Cecelia Irene Fosdick November 29, 1941 – April 21, 2020 Share this obituary View/Sign Guestbook| Memorial Donation Cecelia Irene Fosdick, 78, of Middletown, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 21st after having been visited by family at Waters Edge Center for Health & Rehabilitation. She was born in New York City on November 29th, 1941, the middle of three daughters born to the late Marion Truskolaski and the late Felicia (Kruszewski) Truskolaski. Cecelia grew up in Maspeth, Queens and graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in 1959. After high school she attended Hunter College in Manhattan. On December 3rd, 1961, she married George A. Fosdick, Jr. at Trinity Church Wall Street. Following college, Cecelia was employed by Kollsman Aircraft Instrument Company in Elmhurst, Long Island, NY as an executive secretary. It was here that she met her husband, George, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage. Cecelia was a devoted wife and mother, caring for her family with compassion, love and unfailing selflessness. Throughout her life, Cecelia was active in the Episcopal Church, where she graced choirs with her beautiful soprano voice, most recently at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Rocky Hill. She also enjoyed bowling, reading and traveling. Mrs. Fosdick worked for her youngest son, Dr. Gordon Fosdick, in his Middlefield and Wallingford podiatry practice for many years, where patients thoroughly enjoyed her uplifting sense of humor and enthusiasm. She will be remembered for her beauty, inside and out, her strength and optimistic outlook on life. Her family and friends will miss her smile, quick wit and tireless work ethic. She is survived by her three sons, Professor George E. Fosdick of Middletown, CT; Geoffrey Fosdick, Esq. and wife Sherri of Staunton, VA; Dr. Gordon Fosdick of Middlefield, CT; grandchildren Matthew Fosdick and his wife Jessica of Charlottesville, VA; Thomas Fosdick of Staunton, VA; Christopher and Sarah Fosdick of Middlefield, CT; and younger sister Joanne Johnson of Dallas, GA. Cecelia was preceded in death by her husband George, older sister Lorraine Nowakowski and daughter- in-law Julie Fosdick. Arrangements will be handled by Brooklawn Funeral Home in Rocky Hill, Connecticut. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a service will be held at a later date at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Rocky Hill.
