Catherine Cecelia Kephart; Bowler, Gardener, Dancer, Music Lover, Family Woman, Nana Catherine Cecelia “Kay” Kephart passed away peacefully on Friday, May 1st, 2020 surrounded by her children at the age of 91. She was born in 1928 to the late Elmer True Buckley and Mary McMenamin in Newark, NJ. She was raised in Newark and graduated from St. Antoninus High School in the business program. After graduating, she went to work at Bamberger’s in Newark, where she met the love of her life Norman Willard. They were married on May 17, 1952. They raised their three children in Howell, NJ. Catherine was a data entry operator at Bamberger’s, Leisure Technology, and Merck. She enjoyed bowling with her husband, winning multiple doubles tournaments. Kay and Norman retired to Palm Coast, FL where they hosted many family vacations. In 2009, she moved to Harrogate Senior Living in Lakewood, NJ where she resided for ten years. Catherine was known for her calm demeanor and a frequent quote of hers was “it is what it is.” She will be most remembered for being loving, welcoming, patient and a good listener. She was predeceased by her husband, Norman Willard, and four siblings. Catherine leaves behind her daughters Donna Gibson and husband Doug of Marlboro, Norma Redfern of Toms River and the late Douglas Redfern, and son Craig Kephart and wife Judy of Flemington; grandchildren Jason Redfern, Jaime Cohen, Scott Gibson, Jeremy Redfern, Ryan Redfern, Dana Kephart Queiros, Randy Redfern, Matt Kephart, and Jaclyn Kephart; and five great-grandchildren, Angelina, Hailey, Jeremy, Carter and Ryder. Catherine’s family will be gathering privately to honor and celebrate her life. She will be interred with her husband at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery.
