Carroll Wayne Brown, 87, passed away Monday, May 7, 2020 at the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Mt. Vernon. Carroll was born August 30, 1932 in Carthage to George Earl and Alta “Ullom” Brown. In his younger years, Carroll lived in Kansas City, MO, then married and returned to Carthage. Carroll served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956, during the Korean Conflict. For over 20 years, he worked in housekeeping at McCune Brooks Hospital. Carroll was united in marriage to Dorothy Bright in August 1972 in Kansas City; she preceded him in death in December 1989. Carroll is survived by one sister, Doris Shaunce of Neosho. Carroll was preceded in death by two brothers and seven sisters. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2020. Services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Park Cemetery with full military honors. Contributions may be made to Joplin Association for the Blind, in care of Ulmer Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.ulmerfh.com.
