Carrie Epperson Whitman January 28, 1931 – May 04, 2020 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card CARRIE EPPERSON WHITMAN Carrie Epperson Whitman, 89 of Bluefield, VA, went home to be with the Lord Monday, May 4, 2020. Born in Tazewell County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Elsie Tabor Epperson. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and was a devout Christian. She always put others before herself. She enjoyed reading and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her family and was affectionately known to all as “Mammy”. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: James Lewis Whitman; brothers: Roy Epperson, Charles Epperson and Richard Epperson. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Bridgette Hoosier and husband, Doug of Bluefield, VA and Vickie Furrow of Bluefield, VA; grandchildren: Adam Hoosier and wife, Brandi of Bluefield, VA, Eric Hoosier and wife, Robin of Radford, VA and Kyle Furrow and wife, Amber of Bluefield, VA; great-grandchildren: Kendal Hoosier, Kaden Hoosier, Kinsley Hoosier, Carter Furrow, Colton Furrow, Olivia Hoosier and E.J. Hoosier; special friends: Anita Littlejohn and Dorothy Johnson. In keeping with state and local restrictions due to COVID-19, the family will have a private service at Dudley Memorial with Pastor Don Elswick officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memory Gardens.
