Carl’s Obituary Mr. Carl Duren, Jr. 84, of Adel, Georgia, passed away on May 6, 2020 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center in Moultrie, Georgia. He was the son of the late Carl Thomas Duren, Sr. and Gladys Chitty Duren and was born in Bunkie, Louisiana. He grew up in Valdosta, Georgia but spent the last 60 years of his life in Adel. Mr. Duren served in the United States Air Force and worked as an educator for 34 years with the Cook County Board of Education before retiring from Adel Elementary School as a principal. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Adel where he was the former choir director; he was also a former music leader for Gordon Avenue Baptist Church prior to his membership at First Baptist Church. He was also a Mason and a Shriner of Hasan Temple. Mr. Duren is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Trey and Mary Duren of Littleton, Colorado; his daughter and son-in-law, Anna Barbara and Doug Hanks of Adel; four grandchildren and their spouses: Camie and Dave Hawal of Littleton, Colorado, Benjamin Duren of Aurora, Colorado, Brittany and Gary Rowan of Adel, and Dylan Hanks of Adel; two great-grandchildren: Lawton Gary Rowan and Nora Rose Rowan, both of Adel; a sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Ed Garden of Adel; a nephew, Thomas Garden of Adel; a niece and her husband, Jean and Dennis Atcheson of Lilburn, Georgia; another nephew, Johnny Lastinger of Warner Robins, Georgia; and a great-niece, Nikki Lastinger. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcia Lastinger Duren. A graveside service for Mr. Duren will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Woodlawn City Cemetery in Adel with Rev. Johnny Hendley officiating and eulogy by Mr. Trey Duren.
