Obituary Betty Ruth Frame Hotopp, age 90, of San Antonio, TX died Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at Heartland Healthcare Center. A red, white and blue Independence Day baby, Betty was born in Bloomburg, TX in 1929 to Velma and Roy Frame. She moved to Texarkana, AR in her youth, and to Washington D.C. in 1946. There, she started her independent life working in the Pentagon and met her Navy husband, Ray. They married in 1951 at Luther Place Memorial Church, where Betty was also baptized & confirmed. With a move to California and back to Texarkana, TX, they had 3 children—Roger, Patty & Linda—over a 6-yr. span. A homemaker and a member at First Lutheran Church in Texarkana for 35 years, Betty moved to Tucson, AZ and attended Faith Lutheran Church where her church membership remained 23 years. Her final move to San Antonio landed her church membership at Crown of Life Evangelical Lutheran Church, although she mostly worshipped at services provided at Heartland Healthcare Center for her last four and a half years. Besides raising her three children, Betty participated in life through many years of service to her Lord through First Lutheran Church’s Altar Guild. She cooked, baked and worked at the Four States Fair church booth as well. She loved God’s Word and attended Bible studies and worship throughout her life. The last third of her life, Betty made several moves to facilitate her care. Each one she made with grace, dignity and a smile, making the best of each of her situations and leaving people happy they had known her. In 2015, Betty went back home to Texas and lived in San Antonio close to Roger, her eldest and his children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Hotopp in 1982, but not before his first three grandchildren were born. Since then, Betty has enjoyed one more grandson and seven great-grandkids. Over time, she lost three brothers, Cecil, Estil and Noel Frame and one sister, Mary Barge and their spouses. Her death was also preceded by her oldest granddaughter, Michelle Grant, at the beginning of April. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Cindy Hotopp of Universal City, TX; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patty and Bob Smith of Durham, ME and Linda and Jeff Ashburn of Green Valley, AZ; one single grandchild, Bobby Smith of Durham, ME; two grandchildren and their spouses, Mark and Jenni Hotopp of Wylie, TX and Kristen and Doyle Moore of Blanco, TX; seven great-grandchildren and numerous other family and friends. Betty was blessed by God throughout her life. She was generous with giving and loved to help others where she could. She loved her Lord and Savior, whom she will now worship throughout eternity. Her funeral service will be Saturday, May 23, 10 am at First Lutheran Church, Texarkana, TX and graveside services will follow at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens at 11 am.
