She was born on February 14, 1931, in Warrensburg, Missouri, the daughter of Lonnie and Virginia Vogler. Betty grew up in Sedalia, Missouri and the surrounding area. She was united in marriage to Bill Fockler on September 18, 1947, in Sedalia, Missouri. Betty worked many years at the Sedalia Country Club as a waitress, cook, and occasional food service manager. In the late 60’s they moved to Camdenton, Missouri where she worked at the Adams Star Restaurant for several years. They moved to Warsaw in the early 1970’s where she worked at The Candle Room and Lake Hills Café until she retired. In their retirement years, Betty and Bill hatched, raised, and showed prize winning bantam chickens. Betty even built the chicken coops herself. She also loved her pets, of which she had many over the years; dachshunds, basset hounds, Dancer the shih tzu, and of course BB their beautiful Australian shepherd. They enjoyed antiques and flea marketing and had a booth at the Valley Flea Market in Warsaw for many years. She was well known by family and friends for her cooking skills, which she graciously shared with neighbors. No one will ever forget her delicious homemade rolls, buttermilk pancakes, fruit cobblers, pies, cakes and cookies. When anyone came to visit, it was never too late for her to put together a full smorgasbord of food and desserts. Betty was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Camdenton, Missouri. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill, her parents, and two brothers, Edward and Lonnie. Betty is survived by two children, Kent Fockler, and his wife Carrie, of Fern Park, Florida and Kay Hunziker, and her husband Lelan, of Independence, Missouri, four grandchildren; Christopher Fockler, and his wife Angela, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Steven Fockler, and his wife Alexandria, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Tanya Lynn Brown, and her husband Roy, of Independence, Missouri and Billy Lee Hunziker, and his wife Lindsey, of Blue Springs, Missouri, six great-grandchildren; Cody, Aiden, Reilly, Mason Daniel, Cora Marie, and Charlee Marie, and two step grandchildren; Chris Martindale and family, of Longwood, Florida and Beth Sharpe and family of Winter Springs, Florida. But, as much as she loved and cared for her children and grandchildren, her greatest love and devotion was to Bill, who she loved and took care of for 71 years. Graveside Funeral Services for Betty J. Fockler will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 9, 2020, at the Spring Branch Cemetery, in Avery, Missouri. Services will be provided by the Davis-Miller Funeral Home, Lincoln, Missouri.
