Obituary William Gary Sheets, 69, went to be with his Jesus on Sunday morning, February 16, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Grace Church, Borger, TX with Pastor Jim Loper of Cornerstone Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. William Gary Sheets was born on May 14, 1950 to William Frank Sheets and Zella Fae Sheets in Borger, TX. He resided in Borger with his parents until his marriage to Kathryn Ann Niles on August 9, 1969. In September of 1970, he and Kathy moved to Charlotte, South Carolina. During their time there, Gary worked for a Body Shop and a Finace company. Their first son William Brady Sheets was born on January 3, 1976 at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital in Kannapolis, NC. Although their time there was relatively short, they made many lifelong friendships. As soon as they started a family, Kathy wanted to be close to family, so they moved back to Borger, TX in September of 1976 where he went to work for David Chevrolet before opening his own car lot, Auto Specialty. They welcomed their first daughter, Briana Dawn Sheets Curran on December 13, 1979 at Golden Plains Community Hospital in Borger, TX. Gary closed his car lot and went to work for Salem Motor Company. Their youngest daughter Courtney Ann Sheets Smith was born on October 26, 1987 in Borger, TX at Golden Plains Community Hospital. Gary & Kathy wanted to put their girls in a Christian School so Gary went to work for Cornerstone Church as the Head Usher and maintenance man. Several years later he bought the Water Store. He made several wonderful friends through this business as he loved to visit with his customers. He was a member at Grace Fellowship Church in Borger and a member of the Harley Owners Group and Gideons. He was preceded in death by his parents, Zella Fae and William Frank Sheets and his wife, Kathryn Ann Sheets. He is survived by his son William Brady Sheets and wife Shawna of Borger, TX, daughter Briana Curran and husband Anthony of Waterford, Ireland, daughter Courtney Smith and husband Bo of Borger, TX, and five grandchildren: William Colby Sheets, Haley Jade Sheets, Samuel Anthony Curran, Zoe Ann Curran, and Bodi Dean Smith. He is cherished in the community, among friends, and within family as a loyal friend, confidant, role model, civic and church leader, Son, Uncle, Father and Papa.
