Obituary Virgil Silverthorn, 89, of Bemidji, died Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Cornerstone Nursing & Rehab Center, Bagley surrounded by his loving family. A Celebration of Life will be held 4:00 p.m., Friday, February 21, 2020 at the Eagles Club in Bemidji. Virgil Raymond Silverthorn was born in Breckenridge, MN on August 2, 1930 to Harry & Marie Silverthorn. As a young boy the family moved to the Lavinia area near Bemidji, MN. Virgil worked multiple jobs as he grew older. On June 15, 1957, he married his sweetheart, Faye Peterson in Bethel Lutheran Church in Bemidji. Virgil went to work for Nu Ply and worked there for 12 years. He then went to work for MNDOT and worked there until he retired in 1992. Virgil thoroughly enjoyed working on his hobby farm where he raised chickens and sheep, cutting wood and trimming trails to enjoy 4-wheeler rides. Nature was his love. He also volunteered at the Eagles Club where he cooked many Friday evenings. He also enjoyed traveling with Faye but truly enjoyed raising his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Faye; children, Larry (Bina) Silverthorn and Connie (Rick) Quirin; sisters, Ardella (Clarence) Lindseth, Luella Lindseth and Virginia (Al) Williamson; 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
