Obituary Vede Makarion Krist, age 101, died peacefully at her longtime residence in Westport, CT on Tuesday, January 28, 2020. She survives her husband, the late Peter Christopher Krist, whom she was married to for 59 years before his passing. Born on March 7, 1918 in New Haven, CT, Vede was the daughter of the late Michael and Angeliki Macaropoulos. Vede spent most of her life in Westport at the home her and her husband Peter built, inviting and hosting her family and close friends for Sunday lunch nearly every weekend. In addition to spending time with her adoring family and five grandchildren, Vede enjoyed needlepoint, crosswords and jigsaw puzzles. As a longtime resident with her late husband, Vede was a well-known member of the local community. Survivors include her two sons, David Peter Krist and his wife Stephanie of Weston, CT and Robert Peter Krist and his wife Candice of New Canaan, CT and five grandchildren, Alexandra, Nicole, Peter, Spencer and Geoffrey. Additional survivors include two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings John Makarion, Betty Makarion Blanos and Lela Makarion Anastasion Private graveside services will be held at Willowbrook Cemetery in Westport, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations in Vede’s name may be made to St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 480 Racebrook Rd., Orange, CT, 06477.
