Vanessa’s Obituary Oberlin- A Mass of Christian Burial for Vanessa “Lynn” Darbonne, 55, will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 24, 2020 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Deacon Dale Deshotel will officiate. Burial will follow at Oaklin Springs Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes. The family will receive visitors beginning Sunday, February 23, 2020 from 4-9 p.m. at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin. Visitation will resume on Monday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service. Lynn was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a friend to all. She was a lifelong resident of Oberlin, as well as, a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Lynn also enjoyed shopping, arts and crafts, and home décor. She was an excellent cook and made the best gumbo and cabbage rolls. Lynn was a huge Elvis fan. She was the best mother she could be to her three sons, always putting her family first. She was very selfless and giving, never stopping until she pleased her family. She loved planting flowers and cleaning her home. Her home was always immaculate inside and out. Lynn never met a stranger. She was strongly admired for always giving honest opinions. She was greatly anticipating the birth of her new grandchild. She will be forever missed and unconditionally loved by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish Lynn’s memory include her three sons, Dustin Monceaux of Kinder, Lance Monceaux of Lafayette, and Austin Darbonne and wife, Alexis, of Ragley; two brothers, Terry Darbonne of Oberlin and Rayford Darbonne and wife, Allison, of Kinder; two sisters, Dessa Self and husband, Ray, of Austin, TX, and Sandra Hall and husband, Timmy, of LeBlanc; five grandchildren, Chance, Cooper, and Finley Monceaux, Hadley Harrington and one on the way, as well as, a host of nieces and nephews. Lynn is preceded in death by her parents, Gerald Bruce Darbonne and Betty Gibson Peters. Read More
