Thomas Wade Lovell August 11, 1944 – February 23, 2020 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guestbook Entries| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation THOMAS WADE (Peanut) LOVELL Retired MSG-E8 Thomas Wade (Peanut) Lovell, 75 of Falls Mills, VA, finished his journey here on Earth on Sunday, February 23, 2020 to continue his journey in Heaven. He was born August 11, 1944 to the late Thomas Shields (Tuck) Lovell and Elizabeth Jewell (Judy) Collins Lovell. Wade joined the United States Army April 9, 1965 and retired July 1, 1986. He was in Vietnam from 1967-1969, was stationed in Germany for 9 years as a store manager for two commissaries in Worms and Darmstadt, spent a year in South Korea and was stationed in Ft. Eustis, VA. He was also stationed in Fort Lee, VA and Fort Jackson, SC, where he taught stock control and accounting. He had numerous degrees. He accomplished so much in his lifetime, but the highest award he ever received and was so proud of was his Bronze Star. He was also involved in the Falls Mills Fishing Club and enjoyed working a long side his very good friend, Tommy Scott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 33 years: Barbara Jean Riggins Lovell; brothers: Jimmie, Douglas and Ronnie (Squeak); sister-in-law: Tanya Lee Shaw Smith. Surviving him is his “BB” and wife of 14 years: Margaret Christina Shaw Lovell of Falls Mills, VA; sons: Thomas C. (Punkin) Lovell and wife, Stacy of Falls Mills, VA, Steven W. Lovell and wife, Amanda of Springville, VA; daughters: Clara J. (Jeani) Dudley and husband Kevin of Bluefield, VA, Kimberly M. (Kim) Scott and husband, Steve of Falls Mills, VA, Sheila Harman of Falls Mills, Va, who was like a daughter to him; sisters: Joann McDaniels of Chesterfield, VA, Sandra (Sam) Matthews and husband, Newton of Richmond, VA; 9 grandchildren, two of whom were very special to him and loved spending most of their time at Pappy’s and Nannas house, Maddie J. Dudley and Harper A. Scott; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, who were like brothers to him: James H. Shaw and his sweetheart, Enisha Blakely of Mechanicsville, VA, Paul W. Shaw and wife, Kelly of Galax, VA, Chris A. Shaw and wife, Angela of Moneta, VA, Robert S. Shaw and partner, Jared Leek of Ft. Scott, Kansas; sister-in-law: Margie K. Shaw of Princeton, WV, who was like a sister to him; numerous nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate Peanut’s life will be held Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 5:00 P.M. at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Buck Hagerman officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday at the funeral home from 4:00 P.M. until the hour of service. in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Kidney Foundation.
