He was born on April 29, 1958 in Louisville, KY to the late Russell Raymond Slinger, Sr. and Dorothy Elnora McKinley Slinger. Steven was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, where he was a mechanic on Howitzers; Firefighter for the KY Air National Guard for 22 years; Deputy Chief, #401, for the Meade County Fire Department, he served as a fireman for over 35 years; and a Kentucky Colonel. He is survived by his wife, Jane Slinger; daughters, Mary (William) Slinger-Carreer of Shelbyville, Samantha (David) Hoehn of New Salsbury, IN; and brothers, Russell R. (Ann) Slinger, Jr. of Louisville, Warren Slinger of Louisville. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. from the Meade County Fire Department, 1800 Armory Rd., Brandenburg, KY 40108. The family will receive friends at the Fire Department, Saturday after 9:30 A.M. to the time of the service. The family is being served by Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home.
