Steve “Sawdust” Cronin, 72, of Oolitic, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at Stonebridge Health Campus. Born July 2, 1947 in Bedford, he was the son of Daniel Webster and Alice Mae (Pace) Cronin. He married Patti Meadows on August 14, 1968 and she preceded him in death on October 16, 2007. Steve was a Bedford High School graduate Class of 1965. He retired from General Motors on November 1, 2017 after 44 years. Steve was a Mason with the American Patriot Lodge #750, a United States Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion Gillen Post #33. Surviving are his children, Jill (John) Cronin Silvers, Angie Blanton, Derek (Ruana) Cronin all of Bloomington; nine grandchildren, Madison Silvers, Bailey Silvers, Reid Silvers, Taylor Blanton, Katie Blanton, Cooper Blanton, Ben Morrison, Baxter Cronin, Millie Cronin. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Patti. Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes with Pastor Lee Brown officiating. Burial to follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 3-8 P.M. on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at the funeral home. Masonic rites will be held at 7 P.M. on Wednesday.
