Robert Steve Atkins, 68, of Seagrove, died Friday, February 14, 2020, at his home. Memorial services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Harmony Baptist Church, Ramseur, with Mr. Ken McDowell and Evangelist Kenny Greenway officiating. Robert was born on April 30, 1951 in Galax, VA, to the late Woodrow Wilson Atkins and Bessie Inez Combs Atkins. He worked for McRae Roofing, performed masonry work and enjoyed farming and gardening work. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Woodrow Atkins, Jr., Leatha Goodson, Carol Maness, Richard Atkins, Myrtle Atkins; and great grandson, Whyatt Ellis. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lucille Atkins; daughters, Mary Ann McDuffie and husband Travis, Betty Jo Atkins; son, Robert Steve Atkins Jr., and wife Penny; brothers, Harold Dean Atkins and wife Lisa, Harry Lee Atkins and wife Wanda; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Ridge Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 17, 2020, and other times at the home.
