Obituary Richard Kim Mullinax, 63, of Burlington, died Monday, February 24, 2020, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. He was born on February 3, 1957 in Oklahoma on the reservation of the Kiowa Nation. When he was a year old, Richard and his sister were adopted by Bobby and Juanita Lawrence Mullinax. Their family lived in Oklahoma for a short time and then moved to Burlington. After a brief relocation to Texas, they returned to Burlington, where Richard lived for the rest of his life. On July 17, 1977, he married Becky Brenneman Nelson in West Burlington, they later divorced. He later met Mary Jane Allen who he shared 17 wonderful years with. He was a 1975 graduate of Burlington High School. Richard worked for BNSF as a machinist for 35 years before retirement. Richard was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the Burlington Bee’s, Iowa Hawkeyes, St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling and fishing. Survivors include his significant other, Mary Jane, of Burlington; step-mother, Zona Mullinax, of Oklahoma; one daughter, Hannah (Chris) Mullinax of Davenport; three sons, Adam (Melissa) Mullinax of Des Moines, Peter (Callie) Mullinax of Colorado Springs, CO, and Jacob (Rebecca) Mullinax of Des Moines; six grandchildren, Mia, Isaiah, Charlotte, Benjamin, Henley, Mabel and one on the way; one step-son, Christopher Allen of Katy,TX; one half-brother, Bob Mullinax; and one sister, Sandra (James) Maletta of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby, and mother, Juanita. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
