He was a farmer and also worked at the Illinois Cereal Mill, J. I. Case, and at St. Mary’s of the Woods in the power plant. Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Erwin officiating. Burial will be in Forsythe Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 25, 2020 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Richard was born February 24, 1933 in Symmes Township, Edgar County, Illinois the son of the late Olaf and Marie Cox Drake. He married Nila “Peggy” Rhoads Drake April 20, 1956 in Charleston, Illinois and she survives. Richard is also survived by his children: Keith Allan (Kathy Jo Gleckler) Drake of Paris, IL, Cathy Diane Drake of Paris, IL, Michael Lee (Lori Judy) Drake of Marshall, IL; his grandchildren: Chris (Kelly) Drake of Paris, IL, Andy (Sara) Drake of Paris, IL, Amy (Cory) Martin of Paris, IL, Dustin (Stevie) Drake of Paris, IL; his great-grandchildren: Ashton Drake, Darby Drake, Jed Drake, and Olivia Drake. Richard was preceded in death by his siblings Barbara Switzer, Russell Drake and Betty Griffin. Richard was a member of Bell Ridge Christian Church and he attended the Oliver United Methodist Church. He was a member the Edgar County Farm Bureau, Clark County Antique Tractor Club, a life time member of the V.F.W. Post 3601. He was a volunteer fireman at the original Oliver Fire Department. Richard proudly served his country as a Machinist Mate from 1952 to 1956 in the United States Navy.
