R. L. “Sonny” Harkins, III Springhill, LA Funeral services for Mr. R. L. “Sonny” Harkins, III, age 77, will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, February 17, 2020, at Central Baptist Church, Springhill, LA, with Rev. Scott Teutsch officiating. A private graveside service will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Haughton, LA under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA. Visitation will be held Monday, February 17, 2020 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Central Baptist Church, Springhill, LA. Mr. Harkins was born on June 7, 1942 to R. L. and Grace Bass Harkins in Texarkana, AR and passed away on Friday, February 14, 2020 in Springhill, LA. R. L. and Liz opened Harkins Handy Stop in 1973, serving the community for 46 years. It was known as a place to get coffee, grab a hot link, and visit with friends. R. L. and Liz enjoyed traveling many places, but the best of times were family trips to Hawaii: our family’s way of celebrating the recovery of Anita’s brain cancer. R. L. made it possible for all the family to be together and celebrate God’s blessings.. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Liz Lewis Harkins; two daughters, Lisa Teutsch and husband, Scott; Anita Davidson and husband, Jeff; three grandchildren, Luke Teutsch and wife, Sarah; Hannah Spears and husband, Joseph; Gracie Davidson; brother, Stan Harkins and wife, Susan of Bossier City, LA. Mr. Harkins was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Jessica Teutsch, and a sister, Sarah Baker. Pallbearers will be Luke Teutsch, Joseph Spears, Jeff Davidson, Caleb Harkins, Zack Harkins, and Wayne Timmons. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Harkin’s Handy Stop Coffee Drinkers Club.
