Hammond, 58, of Blue Grass, IA will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, February 14, 2020 at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Buffalo, IA. A private burial will follow at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Paula died unexpectedly on Monday, February 10, 2020 at her residence in Blue Grass. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements. Paula Louann Buffington was born on April 22, 1961 in Muscatine, IA the daughter of Daryl and Leota (Pross) Buffington. After graduating from Davenport West High School she married Irvin Schwartz in Buffalo on September 18, 1982. He preceeded her in death in 1998. She later married Nathan Hammond on April 22, 2004. He also preceeded her in death in 2015. Paula enjoyed being a housewife. She was active in the Calvary Lutheran Church in Buffalo, the Pythian Sisters and the VFW Aux. She was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed playing at both the Davenport Fairgrounds and CASI. She most especially enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews and loved them like they were her own. Paula is survived by – her Mother: Leota of Buffalo; a Sister: Barbara (Darrell) Smith of Durant; 5 Brothers: Fred (Diane) Buffington of Buffalo, Martin (Lisa) Buffington of Wenford, SC, Tracy Buffington of Buffalo, David (Tom) Buffington of Omaha, NE, and Richard (Robyn) Buffington of Coal Valley, IL; a Special Friend: Steve Allen; 4 Nieces: Leeanna, Megan, Kelsey, and Regyn; 2 Nephews: Anthony, and Rylan. She was preceded in death by her Father and infant Daughter at birth. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be left to the family at Cunnick-Collins.com.
