Norman L. Jackson, 75, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life Monday, February 17, 2020 at his home. Norm was born May 9, 1944 in Knoxville, Tennessee, the son of Morris and Gladys Wade Jackson. On March 1, 1969, Norm married Judy R. Johns; she survives. Norm was a 1962 graduate of Columbus High School. He was a United States Army veteran during the Vietnam War serving in Alaska at the Love Missile Site. Norm had a long career in heavy equipment construction, he was vice president at the Rogers Group in Bloomington. After retiring from the Roger Group, he worked at Crider and Crider also in Bloomington. Norm attended the First Christian Church in Columbus. Norm had a passion for rehabbing homes, and he was a car enthusiast. Norm is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy, his sister, Carol Crafton of Westfield, Indiana; a niece, Lyndsey Johns of Fort Myers, Florida; nephews, Jay Johns of Trafalgar, Indiana, Clint (Annie) Crafton of Whitestown, Indiana and Rick (Angie) Crafton of Greenfield, Indiana; his brother-in-law, James Johns of Columbus; and several cousins. Norm was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Gladys Jackson and a nephew, Clay Crafton. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; Tyler Tolbert will officiate. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 11 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Full military honors will be presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. Norm will be laid to rest at the Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association, Indiana Chapter.
