Obituary Bennettsville, SC Mrs. Mildred Goodwin Gray passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at her residence in Bennettsville. She was 77 years old. Born December 22, 1942 in Bennettsville, Mildred was a daughter of the late Frank G. Sr., and Nora Bundy Goodwin. She was a Charter Member of Calvary Baptist Church and a retired employee of Thomas Memorial Baptist Church Day Care. She was a devout Christian and loved the Lord. She dearly loved her family, including her church and day care family. She believed in being kind, patient, and respectful to everyone. She had a dear love for children, and they were magnetically drawn to her. She was an avid reader and collector of whimsical whatnots especially those adorned with frogs. She enjoyed spending time in the mountains and at the beach. She loved classic country music, and according to her Elvis would always be “king.” Mrs. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, listed above; husband, Alton Lee “Skebby” Gray; brothers, Frank G. Goodwin, Jr., Jennings Goodwin, Jim Goodwin; sisters, Alice McDuffie, Hazel Peele, Margaret Shiels, Anna Mae Shiels, and Martha Thurmond. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter, Becky Gray Lewis (Brad) of Jacksonville, NC; sister, Willie Edith Boan of Bennettsville; grandchildren, Stephanie Rebecca McDonald (Perry) and Allison Lee Smatt (Steven); and great grandchildren Travis Lee Suggs, Hunter James McDonald, Ashlee Grace McDonald, along with many other beloved family members and friends. A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 16, 2020 at Burroughs Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2020 at the funeral home.
