Obituary Michael “Pug” Giles LA MARQUE – Mr. Michael “Pug” Giles passed from this life Sunday afternoon, February 2, 2020, in La Marque. Michael was born October 17, 1954 in Johnson City, Tennessee. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam Era. His passion for freedom and the military carried over into his hobbies where he would read and watch movies about WWII. After Michael’s honorable discharge, he married his loving wife, Sharon, and together they devoted their time to the Texas State Guard and Alabama State Defense Force for over 10 years while working as a self-employed painter. Under his tough exterior, Michael was a sweet and loving man who enjoyed spending his days peacefully at home watching old movies such as Abbott and Costello and The Three Stooges. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lee and Dorothy Mae (Swartz) Giles; son, Michael Giles, Jr.; brother, Roy Walter Giles; sister, Anita. Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 42 years, Sharon Lynn Giles; daughters, Missy Mason Giles, Lynn Marie Watson and husband, Bruce; sisters-in-laws, Janet Downtain and husband, Mark, Vickie Clark and husband, Robert, Donna Ulmer and husband, Jay; grandchildren, Christopher Blade Giles, Nicolas Chase Giles, Zachary Aaron Watson. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.
