Obituary Michael Eric Hempstead, 57, of Lexington went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 5, 2020. He was born on December 18, 1962 in Rockford, Illinois, the son of Mildred Williams Hempstead and the late Homer Hempstead. Michael was a veteran of both the United States Air Force and the United States Army. He was also a former machinist for Parker Seals and a volunteer at the VA in Lexington. In addition to his father he was also preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Hempstead. Michael will be lovingly remembered by he daughter, Brandy Hempstead, Louisville, brother, Maurice (Deidre) Hempstead, Rockford, IL, sisters, Maria (Norman) Hayes, Rockford, IL, Marion Hempstead, Decatur, IL, Anita Winbush, Rockford, IL, his daughter Brandy’s mother, Angie Brown Hempstead, Lexington, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, 161 Broadway Street, Versailles, KY, Rev. Larry Blackford, Sr., officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow the service at Highland Memorial Cemetery, Lexington, KY.
