Matthew R. Zagel, age 54 of Glen Carbon, Illinois, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2020 at his residence. He was born July 14, 1965, in St. Louis, the son of the late Thomas & Kathryn (Swearingen)Zagel. Matthew worked as a carpenter in the Edwardsville area for many years. He is survived by four brothers, Thomas Zagel & wife Laurie of Gainesboro, TN, Kenneth Zagel of Alhambra, IL, Ted Zagel of Alhambra, IL, and Jack Zagel of Maryville, WA. Matthew was a very talented wood worker and love making some very unique items. He was cremated according to his wishes, and a celebration of live will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2020, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Edwardsville.
