Wheeler, age 94, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2020 at 8:24 p.m. in Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehab, Pinckneyville, IL. Marion was born on November 18, 1925 in Madison, IL, a son of Richard and Opal (Durham) Wheeler. On January 12, 1959, he married Wanda Fricke in Tokyo, Japan and she preceded him in death on September 7, 2014. Marion served in the United States Army and Navy and retired from the Air Force. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pinckneyville, IL. He loved flowers and could often be found in his garden. Survivors include his two sons, Albert (Alexandria) Wheeler of Brazil, South America and Rick Wheeler of Pinckneyville, IL; one daughter, Edith (Thomas) Sanchez of Alamogordo, NM; five grandchildren, Charity (Greg) Bathon, Opal McLaughlin, Thomas Sanchez Jr., Brenda Wheeler, and Kevin Wheeler; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and two sisters, Shirley Gitcho and Ruth Ann Wheeler. Memorial service will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Collin Hirsch officiating. Military Rites will be conducted at the funeral home by the Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post #2504 and the United States Air Force. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Visitation will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehab Activity Fund.
