Obituary Lessie W. Wyatt, age 94, of Dublin, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 11, 2020. Mrs. Wyatt was born in Laurens County on June 28, 1925 to the late James Augustus “Gus” Woodard and the late Ruth Perry Woodard. She graduated from Dudley High School. She met Wayne, her future husband, at Piggly Wiggly. They were married for fifty four years before his death in 2008. Mrs. Wyatt was the oldest, faithful, active member of Union Baptist Church, and served as church hostess for many years. “Mema”, as she was affectionately called by many, was known for all the tea cakes, tarts, and wonderful food she made. You never left her home without having some of her goodies. In addition to her parents, Gus and Ruth, and her husband, Wayne, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Perry Woodard and Cecil Woodard, and son-in-law, Mickey Wilcox. Survivors include her daughters, Mary Ann Holliday (Tom), of Dublin, and Linda Wilcox, of Alma; granddaughters, Regina Fitzpatrick (Raymond), of Martin, and Summer Wilcox, of Alma; grandson, Mitchell Wilcox, of Douglas; two great-grandsons; sister, Cathyrn Perry, of Dublin; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Wyatt and Mildred Woodard, both of Dublin; very special friend, Darthy Grant, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM until 8:00PM on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, February 14, 2020 at Union Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Dewayne Clements and Rev. Jordy Barwick will officiate. Pallbearers will be Larry Woodard, Danny Woodard, Clinton Woodard, Steve Wyatt, David Wyatt, and Joel Wyatt.
