Lawrence Roehl, age 84, of Glendive, Montana, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2020 at the Wibaux County Nursing Home in Wibaux, Montana. Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. and from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday, February 17, 2020 at the Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Our Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor Greg Lucido officiating. Interment will follow in Dawson Memorial Cemetery in Glendive. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements. Lawrence was born on June 26, 1935 in Terry, Montana the son of August and Martha (Hoffer) Roehl. He was raised and received his early education in the Marsh, Montana area. His family farmed in the Marsh area until they moved across the Yellowstone River to their dryland farm. Lawrence married his German bride, Ilse Klein on March 19, 1961 in Glendive. They lived in Glendive until July of 1964 when they moved and started their life on their irrigated farmstead located about 10 miles west of Glendive. They raised wheat, alfalfa, corn, sugar beets, cattle and their children. Lawrence and his wife continued to run and operate the farm until the Spring of 1999 when he and his wife semi-retired and moved into Glendive. Following his move into Glendive, Lawrence enjoyed making trips to the farm to help his son with the farm work and enjoyed tinkering on small house repairs and doing mechanical work. He moved into the Extended Care Facility in September of 2017. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Edna and brother-in-law, Harold and niece, Jennifer Whitmore. Survivors include his wife, Ilse of Glendive; daughter, Barb Roehl of Glendive; son, Tom Roehl and his wife Debbie, of Glendive and daughter, Heidi Carney and her husband Pat, of Glendive; his sister, Esther Smith of Billings and his brother, Leonard Roehl and his wife Betty of Terry, MT; brother-in-law, Bill Whitmore and his wife Anna Marie of Stanley, ND; one granddaughter, Samantha Hoesel and her husband Jaden of Sidney; one great granddaughter, Andrea Hoesel; four nieces, Denise, Theresa, Carrie and Becky.
