Lavern’s Obituary Teeples, Lavern George of Flushing, age 88, died Saturday, February 22, 2020, at his home. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday, February 27, 2020, at St. Robert Catholic Church. Fr. Jonathan Perrotta and Fr. Joachim Lally will concelebrate. Cremation will follow the Mass. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Thursday at the church until the time of the Mass. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Lavern was born in Rose City, Michigan on December 5, 1931, the son of Oscar and Georgeanna (Atherton) Teeples. He married Louise Thomas on November 20, 1954, in Flint. Laverne proudly served in U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from General Motors, where he worked as a Skilled Trades Carpenter after nearly 30 years. As an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing. Lavern’s hobbies included wood carving, painting and gardening. He loved being around people, especially his family and will be remembered as a kind person who loved playing practical jokes. Lavern was a fix it man and could fix anything wood or metal. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Louise; children, Thomas and wife Della Teeples, John and wife Sue Teeples, Mike and wife Lynn Teeples, Dawn Ratliff; grandchildren, Seth and wife Laura, Tracey and husband Alex, Lindsay and husband Kevin, Kyle and wife Emily, Sean and wife Melissa, Lance, Trent, Alisha; great-grandchildren, Bishop, Tula, Cameron, Kayla and Sophia; brother, Louis and wife Betty Teeples; sisters, Deda Arntz and Betty Jean Avery.
