Laurette’s Obituary Laurette Marie Chandler peacefully passed away at the age of 95 on February 3, 2020 in Cameron, surrounded by family members. She was born on August 8th, 1924 in St. Leonard, New Brunswick, Canada. After growing up in St. Leonard and becoming a Registered Nurse, she moved to the United States to practice her profession and met Thomas F. Chandler, a native of Cameron, Texas, on active duty in the USAF in Portland, Maine. They were married in December 10, 1949 and spent a life together raising a family and living in many different states and overseas locations before settling down in Cameron in 1973. Laurette was employed as an RN at St. Edwards hospital in various positions, to include Director of Nursing, for over 30 years. She so loved working along side the nuns at St Edwards they eventually started calling her Sister Chandler. She was an active member of the Cameron County Club and Ladies Golf Society for 46 years and was an active parishioner at St. Monica’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed the company of many life-long friends in Cameron. Laurette is survived by: sons, John and Gayle Chandler of Livermore, CA, Joe and Karen Chandler of Lompoc, CA, and James and Mary Chandler of Spring Branch, TX: daughters, Debbie and Ronald Rushing of Cameron, TX, Lisa and Danny Nicholson of Pasadena, TX, and Renee and Bruce Orcutt of Cypress, TX, 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas F. Chandler, her siblings, George Beaulieu, Henry Beaulieu, Conrad Beaulieu, Fern Beaulieu, Georgette Lenzen and her parents, Eva and David Beaulieu. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Marak. Entombment will be in the St. Monica’s Mausoleum in Cameron. A rosary will be recited at 1:30 pm prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Read More
