The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home. Mrs. Wyche passed away Saturday, February 22, 2020 in Tulsa. Lana Sue Templeton was born May 14, 1945 to Oscar Ward “O.W.” Templeton and Mildred Milford in Pauls Valley, OK. She was the youngest of three, and only girl. Her two older brother’s took their jobs as older brothers seriously when it came to Lana. Even as adults the three siblings were always there for each other in times of need. The saying “to know her was to love her” was exemplified with Lana. She had a way of making everyone feel at ease and made you feel like you were the only one in the room when she spoke to you. Lana met and married Walter Joseph Mayer, Jr. August 24, 1963. Walt and Lana had two sons together, Walter Joseph Mayer III and Michael David Mayer. The two boys were Lana’s true loves. She loved being a mother and later a grandmother. During their life together Walt and Lana did many things together, from running the Mayer family ranch, to owning a lumber yard in Stonewall, OK, to owning Ada True Value in Ada, OK. Lana taught Elementary school in Stonewall for several years during all of this. Her former students still speak fondly of Lana and what a positive part of their life she was. After retiring from teaching Lana sold real estate with her sister in law, Margaret Barton, until 2004 when she retired completely. Over the years life happened, children grew up, moved away, and came back home. Walt passed away in 2004. Lana married Jim Wyche May 23, 2006 near their home on Grand Lake in Afton, Oklahoma. Lana enjoyed her retired years and spent summers at her home in Angel Fire, New Mexico, fishing, and playing golf with Jim. Lana is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Julian Noland; her husband Walt; and her son Walter Joe. Lana is survived by her son Michael, his wife Jayna, and their three children, Olivia, Owen and Carter Mayer of Broken Arrow, OK; her brother, Jerry Noland of Arizona; her husband, Jim Wyche of Afton, OK; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other loved ones that Lana cared about deeply. Her family is left with a large hole in their hearts and she will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers and gifts the family asks that you make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association, Oklahoma Chapter, 2448 E. 81st Street, Ste. 3000, Tulsa, OK 74137; or to cancer research and aid.
