Obituary Miss Joy R. Frerichs age 73 of Chatsworth passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020, at her residence. She was preceded in death by her father, Elton Frerichs Sr., brother Dr. Elton Frerichs, Jr. and a nephew Matt Frerichs. Survivors include her life partner, William Simons of Chatsworth. Mother Lenis Frerichs of Maryville, TN. Sister and brother in law, Bonnie and Lynn Sheeley of Knoxville. Niece Abby Foster of Vonroe, TN, Nephews, Lynn Sheeley IV, of Knoxville, TN and Major Frerichs of Sweetwater, TN. Great nieces and nephews, Major Frerichs II, Lynn Meyers Sheeley V, Henry Frerichs, Merideth Foster, Taylor Foster, and Sophia Sheeley. Miss Frerichs was a voracious reader and taught Reading and English for 40 years for Whitfield County Schools. She was a Fullbright Scholar three times, Ohio, Arkansas, and Japan. Also a member of the National Education Association, Dalton Pilot Club, Friends of the Dalton Regional Library, Dalton Order of the Eastern Star, Mary Blount Daughters of American Revolution, Daughters of Confedrecery, Colonial Dames and Daughters of War of 1812. She was a 60-year member and follower of Christ at Vonroe First United Methodist Church. At her request, she will be cremated and services will be held at a later time.
