John’s Obituary John William Timmons of Ovilla, Texas peacefully passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2020, at the age of 83. John was surrounded with love as he passed with his beloved wife Betty and their children by his side. John was born on November 1, 1936 in Kansas City, Missouri to parents William and Margaret Timmons. John graduated from Highland Park High School where he was a member of the marching band and ROTC. In 1959, he was drafted into the United States Army. He was honorably discharged with a good conduct medal and recognized as an expert rifle sharp shooter. At the end of his service in the United States Army, John worked for the U.S. Postal Service where he retired in February 2000. He was then able to enjoy working in his shop, with all of his many projects. John served as the Head Commander of the Gospel Lighthouse Church Royal Rangers for 17 years. He faithfully attended Gospel Lighthouse Church for 43 years where he joyfully served as greeter and usher. John is survived by his loving wife, whom he affectionately called his “Little Girl”; his three children, Sherry, Teresa and Larry; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and his sister Mae Timmons along with various friends and family. Visitation is Sunday, March 1, 2020 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Services are as follows with Pastor Luis Salazar officiating: Monday, March 2, 2020 at 2:00 p.m., Jeter & Sons Funeral Home. Honors and Interment will be 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Read More
