Joe C.’s Obituary Joe Charlie Bartek, age 73, of Temple passed away on Friday, February 21, 2020 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 25th at 11:00 AM at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Denise Mikeska officiating. Burial will follow at Seaton Cemetery. A visitation will take place on Monday, February 24th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home, 3110 Airport Road, Temple, TX 76504. Mr. Bartek was born August 20, 1946 in Temple to Joe and Bessie Martinec Bartek. Joe attended Lost Prairie School followed by Rogers High School, graduating in 1964. He served in the Army National Guard for four years ending in 1970. He spent the majority of his life working for the Santa Fe Railroad as a brakeman and conductor. After 45 years on the railroad he retired in 2010. He spent his retirement tending to his garden, running drop lines on the Brazos River and hunting deer when he could. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Norma, and his brothers, James and Glen Bartek. Survivors include three children, Melissa Raymond of Dallas, Joseph Bartek of Temple and Michelle Bartek-Porubsky and husband, Danny of Temple, five grandchildren, Payton Porubsky of College Station, Morgan Porubsky of Temple, Brittany Gwin of Kennedale, Savannah Belk and her husband, Tre of Dallas and Cheyenne Gwin of Palestine and two great-grandchildren, Aiden Belk of Dallas and Marceline Vitale-Gwin of Kennedale.
