Jennifer Cartwright 2019

2019
Jennifer Cartwright, age 47, of Colorado Springs, passed away suddenly when her big ole’ heart stopped while she slept in her home in the mountains. Come to find out the trouble with her heart was that it was just too big. Jen was a runner, equestrian, thespian, artist, window model, horse broker/trainer/transporter, professional picture framer, children’s bible school teacher, party planner, private investigator, merchandiser, and real estate agent, finally culminating in her love of taking a down-n-out home and making it beautiful and proud like her. Jen enjoyed adventure, was a crafty racquetball player, loved reading, skiing, photography, art, beach-combing, bicycling, training animals, scootin’, and couldn’t pass a good ‘manager’s special’ (if you buy 1 you may as well buy 10)! Caring for the outdoors was a big passion for Jen. She was an avid volunteer at the Bear Creek dog park where she walked a dog for a neighbor in need. She loved the earth, her plants, and the water so much that she recycled fiercely and “helped” others do the same. Jen refused to get a new car, instead believing fixing it over and over would be her part in the UPcycling movement. Lessons from Jen: 1) Be curious. 2) Don’t miss a chance to embarrass someone. 3) Help others when they need a leg up and 4) give nothing to those with 2 good legs. 5) Make a yummy turkey fit for a queen. 6) Be silly when things get too serious and be always silly when it’s not. 7) Use your knowledge for good. 8) Imagination is more valuable than knowledge. 9) Leave COLOR wherever you go! Jennifer is survived by her loving husband Zachary Abbott, grandmother Marilyn (Blackmore) Gorman, mother Christine (Gorman) Meier, stepfather Dave, sisters Marilyn and Chere’, brothers Ronnie, Ed, Bobby, and Cliff, Aunties Karen and Kathy, Uncle Ron, advice guru and dear friend Ramona, and many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfather Ronald Dick Gorman and father Edward Cartwright Sr. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Bear Creek dog park in Colorado Springs, CO. Payable to: Trust for County Parks. Please write, Jennifer Cartwright, in the memo line. Send to: Dana Nordstrom, Bear Creek Dog Park memorial, 2002 Creek Crossing , Colorado Springs, CO 80905 You can also remember Jen by conscientiously recycling, containing your trash, picking up your dog’s poop, and remembering that animals were here first, so be kind. A celebration of life party for Jen will be held from 4-6pm on February 1st, 2020 at Odd Fellows Hall in Colorado Springs. Jen hated people to feel left out, so please be comfortable.
