Jack is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, dearest love of 25 years, Bina Patel (nee Parekh); beloved children, Asha (12), Reeyen (11), and Shayna (8); father, Ramesh Patel, brother, Kevin Patel, sister-in-law, Selena Patel, and niece Maya (2). Preceded in death by his mother, Ansuya Patel (nee Desai) and his brother, Sachin Patel. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday February 8, 2020 at Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, In 46375 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A Eulogy and Hindu Ceremony will take place from 12:00 PM- 2:00 PM. Jack was born in Los Angeles on December 22, 1977 to Ramesh and Ansuya Patel, and then spent the better part of his childhood in Madison, IN. He loved living in Madison and often reminisced of the years he had spent there. Jack moved to Illinois at age 12, living in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. He graduated from Conant High School in 1996. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1999 with a degree in Biology. He attended Midwestern University in Downers Grove, IL for medical school, graduating in 2004. The same year, he married his high school sweetheart, Bina. Together, they moved to Grand Rapids, MI for internship and residency training at Metro Health Hospital. During this time, they welcomed their daughter, Asha, and son, Reeyen, in 2007 and 2008, respectively. Jack completed his otolaryngology surgical training in 2009. He also completed a fellowship in cosmetic surgery the following year in Seattle, WA. The family then settled in Munster, IN in 2010. They welcomed their third child, daughter Shayna, in 2011. After spending a few years as an employed physician at St. Catherine’s Hospital, Jack opened his private practice in 2015, providing exemplary care to patients in Northwest Indiana. Jack was a devoted and loving father and avid athlete. He was a swimmer from age 6-18, and had a love for playing basketball. He was a casual and laid-back guy, who preferred pizza, BBQ potato chips, diet cherry Pepsi, and peanut M&Ms over fancy meals. He enjoyed the outdoors, and was always enthusiastic about hiking and exploring. Jack had a comedic personality and loved making others laugh with his incredible wit, humor, and charm. He made friends everywhere, but always made his family a priority. For the past 5 years, Jack conscientiously arranged his work schedule around his kids’ school mornings, in order to have breakfast with them and see them off to school. Jack’s free time was mostly spent with his wife and children, who were the most important part of his life. Jack will be missed by many. Print Obituary
