James Matthew Kerry March 18 1950 February 18 2020

March 18 1950 February 18 2020
James Matthew Kerry was born on March 18, 1950, and he died on February 18, 2020, with his wife, family members, and friends by his side. A memorial service with Rev. John Brocato officiating will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at 2:00P.M. (with visitation beginning an 1:00P.M.), at Kramer Funeral Home in Alexandria, Louisiana. James fought a long battle with heart disease and Parkinson’s. Even when he was not well, he was always cracking jokes and making those around him laugh and smile. He was an LSU graduate and an Army veteran, and he was very proud of both. He loved to play golf and to watch LSU sports, especially football. He taught school in Baton Rouge and in Rapides Parish for twenty years. Jim and his wife Anita were able to travel for many years. The two of them visited thirteen countries—some of them more than once. Jim took many beautiful pictures to document their travels. Almost every year, their anniversary present to each other was a trip to a different country or a different state. James was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Lori Denise; by his twin brother, John; by his sister, Dolores Gauthier; by his father, James Wilfred Kerry; and by his stepfather, George Kelley. He is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Anita Hebert Kerry; by his mother, Audrey Kelley; by his daughter, Robin and her husband Scott Strand of Fort Worth, Texas; and by his son, Randal Beasley and wife Odette of Flower Mound, Texas. James also is survived by his four grandchildren—Alessandra and Zara Beasley and Ryan and Abigail Strand. James also is survived by his brother Brian and wife Wendy of Tioga, Louisiana, and their children Jacob and Claire. He leaves behind his brother-in-law Ron Gauthier and his niece Angie and nephew Andrew. In addition, he leaves behind his sister-in-law Judy and her husband Tommy Vermaelen; his sister-in-law Bettye Hebert; his brother-in-law James Beaubouef; and many other nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Special thanks and much appreciation go out to his long-time faithful sitter Patti Rachal. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
